Sign Up for the Public Safety Tour

Tuesday, July 23, 2013, 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.

All general registrants are eligible to sign up for a tour of the Exponent Test and Engineering Center (TEC) in Phoenix and view a full-scale crash test.  Exponent conducts crash tests in accordance with the established Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards procedures which not only define the vehicle impact mode, but also detail specific requirements concerning instrumentation (transducer selection, orientation, calibration, filtering, etc.), camera coverage, and dummy certification and positioning.  The majority of the tests conducted at the TEC are one of a kind in terms of vehicle impact mode.  They reproduce accident-scene features such as ditches, poles, trees, walls, guard rails, and ramps and have crashed motorcycles into trucks, cars into cars, and even semi-tractors into cars or our fixed barrier.  They also conduct rollover tests and re-create impacts of two moving vehicles at nearly any relative angle and speed.
