This position performs a variety of tasks relating to Traffic Signal Systems, including traffic control devices, fiber optic communications, traffic signal timings, and other state-of-the-art electronic equipment and programs.  Assists with programming and maintenance of traffic signal controllers, conflict monitors, and detector units. Reviews controller programming, timing plans and approvals from FDOT to ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and standards. Inspects construction/installation of traffic system components; investigates citizen complaints and ensures timely response; may assist with repairs and modifications as directed. Assists with downloading timing changes from the TMC during traffic incidents. Responsible for archiving, and maintaining up-to-date traffic systems records/databases.

High school graduate/equivalent.  Minimum of six years’ experience relating to signal systems operation, repair and maintenance of traffic control devices and related communications equipment.  Associates degree or related vocational courses/training certifications, with related electronic experience desired.  Must have certifications by ATSSA or IMSA in Work Zone Safety and IMSA Traffic Signal Level I. Must obtain Level II within six months of hire.  Valid Florida driver’s license required.

Minimum of one (1) year experience working with platform or a similar system, experience working with Naztec 980 Controllers, Tru-Traffic and Synchro/Simtraffic software programs. Experience working on signal re-timing projects is highly desired.
