Position: Traffic Signal Technician


Overview
The Traffic Signal Technician performs skilled electronic and electrical work in the installation, repair, preventative maintenance, and testing of all electronic traffic control equipment.  Fabrication, installation, maintenance and repair of traffic signs, and markings.  Assists and performs skilled work in installation, repair and maintenance of all traffic signal equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities
Performs skilled electronic and electrical work in the installation, repair and testing of all traffic control equipment.
Performs skilled construction, installation, preventive and corrective maintenance work on all traffic control equipment.
Monitors performance of traffic control devices utilizing features of computerized master control system and maintains communications to all interconnected traffic controllers.
Maintains records of conflict/malfunction monitor tests, underground facilities locations, preventive maintenance, and installed equipment. 
Installs and maintains copper twisted pair and fiber optic communications cables.
Designs and constructs electronic and electrical system modifications, coordinating equipment with division specifications and current operational systems.
Performs fabrication, installation, and maintenance of all traffic signs and signposts.
Performs lane marking layout, installation, removal, and painting of pavement markings such as stop bars, crosswalks, turn arrows, lane lines, curbs, parking lots, etc.  Works with inlay and overlay of plastic tape.  Operates and maintains painting equipment
Maintains inventory of traffic control equipment and related parts.
Responds to after hour emergencies when on-call. Repairs malfunctioning, knocked down or inoperable traffic regulatory device.
