Traffic Signal Level II

This course provides an expanded discussion of traffic signal operation. It is intended for the traffic signal technician who has two or more years of signal experience.  The course not only assists the technician in obtaining certification, but also may help the individual in their everyday work.  It is an excellent supplementary course for signal designers and traffic engineers.

The concepts and procedures covered in this course have broad application within the traffic industry and are generally indicative of uniform practice.  The procedures used by specific agencies may vary according to local conditions.  It is recommended that each student taking this course also become familiar with all practices of local agencies having jurisdiction over their area of operation.

This course is recommended for technicians involved with maintaining, installing and troubleshooting traffic signal devices.  It also offers advantages for supervisory personnel involved in design and construction projects.

Traffic Signal Level II Certification Options

In addition to the 100 question Level II exam, each participant must take one or both of the 50 question supplement exams for:

  • Signal Technician Certification (Bench)
  • Signal Electrician Certification (Field)

One certification supplement exam is included with the Level II exam fee. An applicant may take both certification supplement exams, but must pay one additional exam fee.

Prerequisites:
IMSA Work Zone Traffic Control Safety Certification or an approved equivalent.
IMSA Level I Traffic Signal Technician Certification 
Two (2) Years Experience in the Traffic Signal Field
