Transportation Engineer – (Signals)

DDOT is seeking a licensed professional engineer to support the Traffic Signals and Traffic Engineering Operations with special emphasis on traffic signal system design, maintenance and operation including signal system studies and investigations.  Experience working with interval based signal systems a plus.

This position is located at the Reeves Center – 2000 14^th St. N.W., Washington, DC 20009.

Duties include but not limited to 

·         Day-to-day operations of Traffic Signal System

·         Developing traffic signal timing plans

·         Traffic Signal Optimization

·         Conducting traffic engineering studies and preparing recommended solutions  to address roadway safety and operational problems

·         Plan review/land development support functions

·         Determining the need for and appropriate type of Traffic Control Device on the roadway system

Min. Qualifications

·         Demonstrated/comprehensive knowledge of traffic signal systems including interval based signal systems.

·         Demonstrated/comprehensive knowledge of traffic engineering.

·         Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with individuals and with groups.

·         Ability to manage and coordinate projects.

·         Ability to lead, supervise and motivate subordinate staff.

·         Knowledge of governing regulations as they relate to traffic signals and traffic engineering (MUTCD, ITE, AASHTO, etc.)

·         B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, or related engineering curriculum with specific coursework in Transportation or Traffic Engineering with demonstrated progressively responsible experience in a supervisory role and work related to Traffic Engineering/Safety/Operations required or a combination of related traffic and transportation engineering, education, training and experience that demonstrates the required skills and ability required.

·         Valid driver's license required.

·         P.E. license is preferred.

Salary Range: $67,600 - $100,357
