The Ohio Department of Transportation, District 6, is looking to fill 2 Temporary Signal Electrician 2 positions

Acts as lead worker (i.e., provides work direction & training) over lower-level signal electrician(s) &/or other employees assigned to work crew in maintenance; performs electrical work on traffic control devices (e.g., traffic signals, flashing beacons, and street and detour lights, detectors, messenger cable, relays, meters, conduits, housings, highway & sign luminaries & other related devices); &/or Performs more complex electrical & electronic repairs, installations or maintenance activities (i.e., such activities include but are not limited to programming controllers & components for time-based coordination, fire & emergency vehicle preemption, time of day function changes & makes changes to signal coordination settings to effect traffic flow & other similarly complex functions), tests entire signal system to ensure system is synchronized & functioning as designed, makes adjustments/repairs as necessary, & wires &/or directs wiring of signal housings in signal shop. Installs and repairs electrical devices; erects new or repairs or replaces span wire and damaged electrical installations. Operates heavy motorized equipment (e.g. bucket truck; boom trucks).


Inspects and tests faulty signal controllers; analyzes test results and diagnosis circuits and components that are malfunctioning and specifies repairs to be made; rebuilds and repairs traffic signal controllers (e.g., pre-timed, actuated and traffic density types); completes reports on inspection of traffic control devices.


Performs other duties as required (e.g., operates dump truck with or without plow & spreader); cleans and makes minor repairs to assigned equipment and tools; maintain signal equipment and tools.
