Signal/Lighting Technician

The Signal/Lighting Technician will, under direction, perform highly technical and specialized electrical and electronic work in the installation, modification, maintenance, repair, overhaul, and adjustment of traffic signals and street lighting systems and equipment.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a high school diploma supplemented by training in electrical and electronics. Three years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and electronic traffic signal equipment and systems.

License or Certificate

Possession of a valid California class "C" driver's license. Must obtain a valid California class "B" driver driver's license with air-brakes endorsement within 5 months of employment. Must obtain and maintain a Level I Signal Technician Certificate within 12 months of employment.

Special Requirements:  On-call, stand-by, and emergency call will be required (must be able to report to work within 30 minutes).
