The primary responsibilities of the Traffic Engineer position are to assist the Traffic Operations Manager with conducting traffic studies based on service requests received by the Public Works Department and developing engineering analyses associated with traffic related items. The Traffic Engineer will also assist with traffic reviews of design plans and special event permit applications received through the Development Review Committee (DRC) and Event Review Committee (ERC) respectively. Lastly, the position will be required to assist in the Traffic Management Center (TMC) on an as needed basis.

Formal Education:
Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering required.
Transportation specialty (with a Civil Engineering degree) preferred. 

Relatable Work Experience:
Basic computer skills are a must and should include proficiency in the following Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
One year of experience in a Civil Engineering field required. Work experience in a transportation specialty is preferred.
Municipal work experience is preferred.
Experience with using AutoCAD, ESRI GIS, Python, Power BI, or Synchro/SimTraffic (or related traffic model and simulation) programs is preferred.

 Training (License and/or Certification):
Valid Texas Driver License (Class C) required.
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification or higher preferred.


This position may require working after hours and for emergency or special events.
