The Traffic Supervisor under the direction and guidance of the Traffic Superintendent organizes, supervises, and evaluates personnel in the performance of daily work assignments on maintaining the city’s traffic control systems.  

This includes:

Upgrades performed on traffic control system.
Any required preventative maintenance, and record keeping.
Maintenance as required on the ITS systems communications infrastructure.
Keeping the Superintendent informed of inventory, shortages in materials and needed
equipment, to maintain adequate stocks on hand.
Good working knowledge of all the ITS system.

The Incumbent will also assists in the operation of the Traffic Control Division, as needed in operating the (MTOF) Manhattan’s Traffic Operations Facility TOC.

High School graduate or possession of a GED supplemented by technical training in computers and electronics.  Five (5) years of relevant experience.  Two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity. 

Required to have and maintain a valid Kansas Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
**Must receive IMSA Work Zone certification within 12 months of employment.
**Must hold at a minimum an IMSA Traffic Technician (1) certification, an IMSA Traffic Technician (2) is preferred***.
*** This can be waived with relevant experience, a history of progressively higher demonstrated abilities, responsibilities, and relevant work history as required with this advanced position, within the Traffic Department.
