Arlington County's Department of Environmental Service (DES) is seeking a Traffic Systems Analyst for the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) group, as part of the Transportation Engineering & Operations Bureau (TE&O). The ITS group designs, constructs, inspects, maintains and operates Arlington County's signal and streetlight system, which includes 296 traffic signals, approximately 7,350 centrally controlled County-owned streetlights, and tracks and reports outages for approximately 11,300 Dominion Power streetlights. The ITS group is also responsible for a portfolio of 30-40 capital projects comprising $30M in value.

The Traffic Systems Analyst is a member of a team in the forefront of smart traffic signals and ITS, and is primarily responsible for managing advanced traffic management system, including documentation, maintenance, and operation of the system which provides high-quality service to motorized and non-motorized traffic, transit, and emergency vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications:  A Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field, plus at least two years of progressively responsible engineering/technical experience in ITS system deployment or any IT industry as a network administrator.

Substitution: Additional years of relevant education may be substituted for one year of the experience requirement. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
