Prince George’s County Department of Public Works & Transportation, Traffic Engineering & Safety Division is currently accepting applications for a vacant full-time Engineering Technician IV
The Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) is responsible for nearly 2,000 miles of County-maintained roadways and we own and maintain over 215 traffic signals. We provide roadway infrastructure, traffic management, litter control, mass transportation and stormwater management to all users in the County in order to ensure a safe and aesthetically pleasing transportation system.
The Department of Public Works and Transportation, Office of Engineering and Project Management, Traffic Engineering and Safety Division is seeking a full-time Engineering Technician IV position to perform lead level para professional engineering work relating to traffic signal and street lighting.
Leads and coordinates traffic studies of subordinate level technicians in accordance with established State and National standard.
Assists with the installation, and assembly of traffic signal cabinet and related accessories.
Assists with the safe and efficient setting up of new traffic control equipment, including bench testing controllers.
Collects, compiles and analyzes transportation data to determine the need for traffic control measures.
Reviews and prepares traffic signals, traffic controls and roadway improvement plans.
Reviews and processes the payment of energy bills, installation and repair bills.
Collects, compiles and analyzes engineering data and makes recommendation on assigned traffic studies.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Requires High School Diploma or G.E.D.; plus college-level courses in higher mathematics (algebra, trigonometry, geometry) and civil traffic engineering; plus five (5) years of subprofessional engineering experience, one (1) of which must include supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience will be considered.
$51,860 – $94,818 commensurate with experience
