Traffic Management Center (TMC) Operator / Full-time

The City of Concord NC Transportation Department - Signals Division is currently accepting applications for a vacant full-time TMC Operator position. The Signals Division is responsible for maintaining over 140 traffic signals. It provides daily and special event traffic management to all users in the City in order to ensure a safe transportation system.

Job Duties:
Perform signal system analysis and processing with state-of-the-art innovative technologies to determine the need for traffic control measures.
Use ITS software to control and monitor field devices such as closed-circuit video cameras, DMS signs, traffic detectors, and any other technology related to devices that may be implemented as part of the ITS infrastructure.
Performs basic system upgrades.
Prepares reports for the engineering staff.
Assists with the safe and efficient setting up of new traffic control equipment.
Flex schedule, ability and willingness to work alternate work, shift schedules.

Required Qualifications and Experience: Requires High School Diploma or G.E.D. Associate degree or college-level courses in higher mathematics (algebra, trigonometry, geometry) and civil traffic engineering preferred. Experience in a municipal or state setting preferred. An equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience will be considered. Requires a valid driver's license (CDL preferable) and driving record that follows City Driving Standards.
  
Advertised Salary: $22.65/hr. (base salary only; does not include fringes); commensurate with experience.
