Traffic Signal Technician 1 – Orange County Government - Orlando, FL
$15.15 to 24.37 per hour
This is an entry level position that performs routine maintenance, repairs, construction and inspection of traffic signal system equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assists in the installation of detection, communication and signal cable overhead or in underground conduit.
Works with high and low voltage systems, 120-240 VAC 12-24 VDC.
Operates basic meters, hand and power tools.
Assists in the installation, preventative maintenance and repair of traffic signal equipment including cabinet assemblies, overhead signs, pedestrian signals, school crossing beacons.
Duties require occasionally moving, lifting, pushing or pulling equipment up to 60 pounds.
Work is regularly performed outside, frequently in adverse weather conditions such as cold, heat, rain, and wind using aerial lift/bucket truck.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Vocational training in construction, electricity or electronics; or one year of related experience.
Pass the Traffic Signal Technician I entry level test at 70% or greater.
Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License and obtain a Florida CDL class “B” within six months from date of hire.
Obtain the State Maintenance of Traffic training within three months from date of hire.
Obtain the International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level I certification within 12 months from date of hire.
Able to work over time or on-call as directed by management.
Read and interpret schematic/blueprints
Troubleshoot electrical/electronic circuitry.
Basic computer skills.
