Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Technician Trainee, Technician I & Technician II

(ITS Technician Trainee ($42,575.64 – $59,945.60 annually); ITS Technician I ($49,277.17 – $69,388.80 annually); ITS Technician II ($54,328.18 – $76,502.40 annually)

ITS Technician Trainee ($42,575.64 – $59,945.60 annually)

The ITS Technician Trainee learns to perform semiskilled work in the installation, maintenance, operation, and repair of traffic signals. This position performs related duties, as required. Minimum Qualifications Required: Graduation from high school or GED. Some (6 months – 1 year) experience in electrical or related work. Must possess a valid Class D Arizona Driver’s License by hire date. 

ITS Technician I ($49,277.17 – $69,388.80 annually)
The ITS Technician I performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical and electronic traffic signal control devices, various communication devices, and the ITS components. This position performs related duties, as required. Minimum Qualifications Required: Graduation from high school or GED. Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to 2 – 3 years’ traffic signal maintenance/construction experience, or graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Electronics Engineering Technology and at least one year of traffic signal maintenance/construction experience.  

ITS Technician II ($54,328.18 – $76,502.40 annually)
The Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Technician II performs highly skilled advanced level work in the installation, maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical and electronic traffic signal control devices, various communication devices, and ITS components. The ITS Technician II will function in a lead capacity to the ITS Technician Trainee and the ITS Technician I. This position performs related duties, as required. Minimum Qualifications Required: Graduation from high school or GED. Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to considerable (3 – 5 years) traffic signal maintenance experience including experience in maintaining microprocessor-based instruments, TS1 and TS2 controller cabinets, pre-empt devices, and telemetry equipment or an Associate’s in Applied Science Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology and two years of traffic signal maintenance experience. Must have basic knowledge of PC operations.
