This class is the third level in a four level Skilled Trades series. Incumbents perform journey level trade work in assigned area of responsibility. Typical duties include: coordinate and maintain the city’s 13 signalized intersections, 2 HAWK systems, 2 RRFB’s, 6 radar speed limit signs, and wireless network;
Coordinate the maintenance and repair of the city’s 780+ street light, and park lighting network;
Assist with fabricating and maintaining the city’s street signing and striping inventory;
Review and make recommendations on street lighting and traffic signal plans and drafts;
Assist with public safety alert systems such as LPR’s and Emergency Vehicle Preemption; participate in a regular on-call rotation; assist with city event support and setup. May serve as a lead to lower level classifications.
High School Diploma or GED, 4 years of work experience in the field; supplemented with college coursework or technical training; must possess a valid Arizona Class B Commercial Driver’s License. IMSA Field Technician Level I required at time of hire. IMSA Field Technician Level II within 1 year of hire. Regular on-call rotation.
Traffic Control Technician (TCT) or Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) upon hire. If candidate does not have TCT or TCS, it must be obtained within one year of hire.
Desired Experience: 4 to 5 years in traffic control field, (traffic signals, street signs, street markings)
Special Work Conditions
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, and intense noises.
Incumbents will be required to perform aerial work in bucket truck, platform truck, or man lift.

Full Salary Range for Position: $57,148.96 – $80,008.55
