Traffic Signal Technician 3

HIRING SALARY: $28.18 – $34.54 Hourly

JOB SUMMARY:
This is a safety-sensitive position in the Traffic Services Division of the Department of
Engineering, functioning as a front-line provider of services in performing a variety of skilled
tasks in the maintenance and repair of the Town of Parker’s traffic control equipment. When
assigned by the Traffic Engineer, individuals in this position will also assist the Stormwater
Division of the Department of Engineering or the Streets Division of Public Works or other
departments as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.

A valid Colorado Driver License and a good driving record is required. Must have a Driver License
for a minimum of two (2) years.

A Class B, Commercial Driver License with air brake endorsements or the ability to obtain within
six (6) months of hire is required.

Five (5) years of traffic signal experience at a Traffic Signal Technician 2 level with the Town of
Parker, or substantially equivalent positions with other public agencies or private contractors.

ICS-100, ICS-200, IS-552, IS-554, IS-556, IS-558, IS-700 and IS-800 NIMS/ICS training or the
ability to obtain within twelve (12) months.

IMSA Traffic Signal Senior Bench Technician Level III certification or the ability to obtain within
six (6) months.

IMSA Traffic Signal Senior Field Technician Level III certification or the ability to obtain within
six (6) months.

IMSA Traffic Signal Level II Construction Inspection certification.

IMSA Signs and Markings Level I certification or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months. IMSA

Roadway Lighting Level I certification or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to supervise small work teams and foster an atmosphere of cooperative teamwork.

Ability to provide on the job training for individuals lacking necessary skills.

Working knowledge of equipment, materials, techniques and supplies used in the maintenance of
illuminated street signs, traffic signals, outdoor lighting, and other electrical equipment.

Working knowledge of equipment, materials, techniques and supplies used in the field location of
underground infrastructure.

Ability to use a variety of computer-based programs including word processors, spreadsheets, e-
mail, and specialized traffic control applications.

Ability to read and interpret plan sheets and electrical schematic diagrams.

Ability to identify and implement risk management techniques to reduce exposure to injury, damage,
and liability.

Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions and report operations both verbally and in
written form.

Ability to coordinate activities with other individuals within the Department of Engineering and
Public Works plus other Town Departments. Ability to interact successfully with individuals from
other agencies and organizations.

Ability to perform a responder role within NIMS/Incident Command System.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Full salary range for is: $28.18/hr. – $40.90/hr.
