About the Position:

As a Traffic Signal Technician, you will perform a variety of electronic repairs and maintenance on traffic control units and equipment including traffic controllers, vehicle detectors, and traffic signal control computers. You will maintain, repair, modify, and install traffic signals, street lights, electrical systems ranging from 120/208 volts, and related apparatus. About Our Traffic Operations Division: 
The traffic operations division is responsible for installing pavement markings and striping the City of Grand Junction roadways. We fabricate, install, and maintain all the signs within City limits. Duties

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform repair, inspection, maintenance, and installation of assigned traffic signals and school clocks; replace bulbs, wiring, fuses, circuit breakers, ballasts and signal head parts; program and maintain electrically operated flashing school zone clocks and signs.
  • Operate a variety of equipment including dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, cranes, boom trucks, power and hand tools, and other specialized maintenance equipment including volt meters, locators, and laptop computers.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of traffic signal plans, schematics, and signal timing specifications; update records as maintenance is performed.
  • Repair and install pedestrian fixtures, traffic signal fixtures, optically programmable fixtures, and inductive vehicle loop detectors at intersections.
  • Respond to regular and emergency calls for service as appropriate; assist sign crew as needed.

Qualifications

This position is a safety position, which means you will be subject to random drug screens due to the nature of the work performed.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible traffic signal maintenance or electronic experience.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. supplemented by college-level coursework in electronics, fiber optics, or a related field.
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire, a valid Colorado Class “A” Commercial driver’s license.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain appropriate valid certifications from the IMSA.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid ATSSA Worksite Supervisor certification.

Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
