Brevard County Public Works is seeking applicants for a Traffic Systems Technician II. Amazing opportunity to work on Florida’s Space Coast with over 72 miles of beach along Florida’s Atlantic coast. The Space Coast is located in east Central Florida 45-minutes from Orlando. The candidate for this position will perform experienced technical work in all aspects of traffic signal maintenance, inspection and emergency response.

Examples of Duties:

  • Performs routine maintenance of traffic signals, school zone lights, and street lights;
  • Performs the replacement of traffic signal lights, heads and control hardware;
  • Installs and maintains vehicle detection equipment at traffic signals;
  • Conducts inspection of traffic signal installations in accordance with industry standards;
  • Inspects and repairs street lights;
  • Operates an aerial bucket truck to repair overhead equipment and wiring;
  • Provides emergency response for malfunctioning traffic signals;
  • Works an on-call rotation to respond to emergencies and after-hour repair needs.

Experience, Certifications and Licenses:

Four (4) years of experience in the maintenance and/or repair of electrical, electronic, or mechanical equipment or components.

A valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

An International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level I Traffic Signal Technician certification.

An IMSA Level II Traffic Signal Field Technician certification, or agree to obtain within eighteen (18) months of employment.

An Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification, or agree to obtain within twelve (12) months of employment.
