The IMSA Traffic Signal Senior Field Technician III Certification is designed to test an individual’s knowledge and skills of advanced traffic signal technologies used in the industry.
What Knowledge Should I Have Before Registering for the Program?
- M.U.T.C.D. (current edition)
- Basic electronics and electrical standards in the National Electrical Code and/or Canadian Electrical Code
- National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
- ITE – Traffic Control Devices Handbook (current edition)
- NEMA Standards TS1/TS2
- CalTrans Standards 170/2070
- Various traffic detection methods (acoustic, microwave, radar, loops, etc.)
- Lightning and grounding protection devices
- Traffic signal preemption devices
- Data communications methods (copper, fiber optic, wireless, etc.).
What are the Prerequisites?
- Current IMSA Traffic Signal Field Technician II
- Five years of experience in traffic signal operations
