Consider joining the City of San Bernardino’s Public Works Department as a Traffic Signal Technician II.
The City of San Bernardino is seeking a self-starter able to work in a fast-paced environment responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of traffic signals, traffic signal coordinated systems, flashing beacons, and other related devices.
The ideal candidate will be service oriented and will have a valid California Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with Airbrake and Tank endorsements. Please submit a copy attached to your application.
Minimum Qualifications: Traffic Signal Technician I – Graduation from high school/G.E.D. equivalent; and one year of journey-level electrical and/or electronics maintenance, installation and repair experience.
Typically, Traffic Signal Technician I is expected to be capable of meeting the proficiency criteria for the higher-level class within a 12-24-month period, depending on an individual’s prior experience and progression in performing the full range of Traffic Signal Technician II duties.
A valid California driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City’s vehicle insurance policy is required.
A Class “B” California driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment.
Current certification as a Traffic Signal Technician through the International Municipal Signal Association or the ability to obtain certification within one year of date of employment.
