Grades: B23-B24 (Traffic Engineering Technician II/ III)
B23: $25.51- $35.71/ hour ($53,063- $74,287 annual), B24: $28.06- $39.29 ($58,368- $81,715 annual), Salary dependent on qualifications and based on State of Oregon defined bona fide factors in accordance with Oregon’s Pay Equity Act.

Position Overview:
The City of Springfield is seeking a Traffic Engineering Technician to conduct field studies to determine traffic volume, speed, effectiveness of signals, adequacy of lighting, and other factors influencing traffic conditions.  This position designs and inspects traffic related projects and operates traffic systems (under direction of a Traffic Engineer).

Minimum Qualifications:
The City will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications.
•    Associate degree or two-year technical certificate in engineering or related field, and;
•    3-5 years of experience in traffic engineering, transportation planning, or related experience (Traffic Engineering Technician II: B23 grade)
•    5 or more years of advanced level experience performing more technically challenging duties (ex: programming hardware and software to support traffic signals, streetlights, and traffic communication systems, designing/ drafting traffic system plans, etc.) (Traffic Engineering Technician III: B24 grade)

Licensing/Certifications:
•     Valid Driver’s License in the State of Oregon at time of appointment

The following are not required at time of hire, but within time frame designated:
•    Traffic Signal Inspector Certification (within one year of hire)
•    International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) certifications to include:
1.    Work Zone Certification (within one year)
2.    Signs and Markings Certification (within one year of hire/appointment to Technician III)
3.    Traffic Signals, and Roadway Lighting Certification (within three years of hire/appointment to Technician III)

Top candidates will be invited to interview.
