General Statement of Duties
Installs, maintains, and repairs microprocessor traffic controllers and signal systems.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
High school diploma, plus three (3) years of experience in the maintenance and installation of traffic equipment and signal systems. T-2 Traffic Program certification preferred.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six (6) months of employment.
Valid International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Certification, Traffic Level I.
ISMA Work Zone Temporary Traffic Control Technician certification within 6 months of hire.
Must obtain ISMA Traffic Signal Field Technician II certification and ISMA Signs and Pavement Markings Technician I certification within six (6) months of appointment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated knowledge of microprocessor traffic controllers and software systems.
Proven ability to install and fabricate signs, pavement markings, line layouts, and striping.
Proven ability to maintain and repair electronic traffic control systems and equipment.
Proven ability to evaluate the vehicle and pedestrian crossing volumes and counts.
Proven ability to interpret traffic signal plans, timings, offsets, splits, and time-spacediagrams.
Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records.
Proven ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with contractors, colleagues, public officials, and the public.
Demonstrated ability to perform physical aspects of the positions including, the ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
Valid Driver’s License.

Reports to: Highway Traffic Operations & Maintenance Foreperson
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs maintenance and repairs on traffic signal equipment.
Operates the bucket truck.
Records repairs and preventive maintenance in the related software program.
Maintains inventory of traffic equipment and reports on conditions, supply, and replacement needs.
Assists with snow and ice removal operations, as needed.
Responds to traffic signal emergencies on a 24-hour basis as required.
Supports Town policies and philosophies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supplemental Information
All positions may be subject to an interview process. The Town reserves the right to limit the number of qualified candidates who will be invited to participate in the examination, or any part thereof.
All outside candidates will be required to undertake and successfully pass a pre-employment medical examination, which includes a substance abuse test that includes testing for THC (the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana), given at the Town’s expense prior to employment if conditionally offered a part time, full time or safety sensitive position.
