JOB SUMMARY:
This is a safety-sensitive position in the Traffic Services Division of the Department of Engineering, functioning as a front line provider of services in performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of the Town of Parker’s traffic control equipment. When assigned by the Traffic Engineer, individuals in this position will also assist the Storm Water division of the Department of Engineering or the Streets Division of Public Works or other departments as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

A valid Colorado Driver License and a good driving record is required. Must have a Driver License for a minimum of two (2) years.

A Class B, Commercial Driver License with air brake endorsements or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire is required.

Prefer a minimum of two (2) years of traffic experience at a Technician I level, or substantially equivalent positions with other public agencies or private contractors.

IMSA Work Zone Safety certification within twelve (12) months of hire date.

IMSA Traffic Signal Level I within twelve (12) months of hire date.

IS-100 and IS-200 NIMS/ISC training or the ability to obtain within twelve (12) months of hire date.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of equipment, materials, techniques and supplies used in the maintenance of street signs, traffic signals, lighting and other electrical equipment.

Working knowledge of equipment, materials, techniques and supplies used in the field location of underground infrastructure.

Ability to use a variety of computer based programs including word processors, spreadsheets, e-mail, and specialized traffic control applications.

Ability to read and interpret plan sheets and electrical schematic diagrams.

Ability to identify and implement risk management techniques to reduce exposure to injury, damage, and liability.

Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions and report operations both verbally or inwritten form.

Ability to coordinate activities with other individuals within the Department of Engineering plus other Town Departments.

Ability to interact successfully with individuals from other agencies and organizations.

Ability to perform a responder role within NIMS/Incident Command System.
