Traffic Signal Technician II
The City of San Bernardino is seeking an ideal candidate who is service oriented and has at least two years of journey-level electrical and/or electronics maintenance, installation and repair experience. A valid California Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with Airbrake and Tank endorsements and a current certification as a Traffic Signal Technician from International Municipal Signal Association is highly desirable.

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is:
Traffic Signal Technician II – A Traffic Signal Technician I may be considered for advancement to Traffic Signal Technician II after demonstrating proficiency to perform the full range of duties of the latter class.
Typically, a Traffic Signal Technician I is expected to be capable of meeting the proficiency criteria for the higher-level class within a 12 to 24-month period, depending on an individual’s prior experience and progression in performing the full range of Traffic Signal Technician II duties as described above.
Licenses, Certificates, Special Requirements:
A valid California driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City’s vehicle insurance policy is required.
A Class “B” California driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment.
Current certification as a Traffic Signal Technician through the International Municipal Signal Association or the ability to obtain certification within one year of date of employment.
