The City of Stockton Public Works Department currently has two (2) vacancies for a Traffic Signal
Electrician. This position will work in the Operations and Maintenance division installing, repairing,
maintaining, and modifying electromechanical and electronic traffic signal, streetlights, and other
control devices. The incumbent will work a City of Stockton 9/80 schedule: 6:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Fridays, with alternating Fridays off. The incumbent
in this position must be willing to work overtime and off-hours shifts in emergency situations as needed.
Under general supervision, installs, repairs, maintains, and modifies electromechanical and electronic
traffic signal, streetlight, and other control devices; performs skilled electronic and electrical
maintenance, repair and modification work; performs related work as assigned.

Possession of a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 18 semester units in electrical,
electronics, or similar course work is required.
Three (3) years of experience at a level equivalent to the City’s Traffic Signal Electrician Trainee or
four (4) years of journey level working experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic devices
and equipment.

An Associates of Arts degree in electronics or a closely related field may be substituted for two (2)
years of working experience and the 18 semester units of course work.

Other Requirements:
A valid California Class C driver’s license.
