THE POSITION

**Although there is a salary range for this position, salary will be negotiated depending on experience.**

This recruitment will be used to establish an open competitive and promotional eligibility list that may be used to fill this vacancy and vacancies occurring in this classification for a minimum period of six (6) months. Provides journey-level level technical assistance in the management and coordination of traffic systems.

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Working Conditions: May work shifts on days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

REQUIREMENTS
Education and Work Experience:
Equivalent to high school diploma / GED AND successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an electronic technician AND two (2) years of journey-level experience in electrical and electronic troubleshooting and repair.Licensing and Certifications:
Must possess a valid Class C Nevada Driver’s License at time of application. Must possess valid International Municipal Signal Assoc (IMSA) Level I certification as Associate Traffic Signal Technician, or agree to obtain certification within one (1) year of date of hire.Background Investigation:
Employment with the Regional Transportation Commission in the position is contingent upon the results of a comprehensive education/experience background investigation, social security trace, and a criminal and driving history record checks.

Medical Examination:
Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician. A pre-employment drug test is part of the examination.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical ability to perform construction, maintenance and related work, including climbing and/or crawling in areas that are not handicapped accessible; stamina to stand and walk for extended periods of time; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.

Work is subject to exposure to high voltage, fumes, chemicals and solvents.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Monitors and evaluates the performance of traffic patterns along roadways throughout the traffic system; responds to concerns or issues. Re-times existing traffic corridors and/or develops new coordination plans consistent with traffic demands. Performs routine maintenance on and monitors performance of ramp metering systems. Develops operating parameters as required. Provides technical assistance to agencies and consultants to improve traffic signal operation and coordination. Provides and maintains reports and records of work performed as required. Reviews construction plans and specifications, and performs inspections of new construction projects/equipment. Analyzes and converts test data to usable form, using mathematical formulas; devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations; prepares graphs and written reports to translate test results. Loads signal controllers with operating system and intersection timing data; bench tests for proper operational outputs. Operates a variety of office equipment, to include computers and associated software. Provides information and assistance to internal and external customers as required. Other duties assigned.
